Using Sonar

Interactions

Form enquiries, orders and video responses sent to Sonar from your other tools, linked to the visits they came from.

Interactions are things visitors do that your other tools know about and Sonar can't see on its own: a form enquiry, a basket or an order, a video response. Your forms, shop or video platform send each one to Sonar, and Sonar links it to the visit it came from, so you can see what brought that person to you.

Connecting your tools

Open Settings in the sidebar, then Interactions. Your site's Interactions key is at the top: Show it, Copy it, or Replace it if it has been shared by mistake. Replacing it stops anything using the old key until you paste in the new one.

WordPress (Gravity Forms)

  1. Install the Sonar plugin, version 2.1 or later.
  2. In WordPress, go to Settings → Sonar Analytics and paste the key into Interactions key.
  3. Tick Send Gravity Forms enquiries and save. Tick Send field values to Sonar too if you want the answers stored with each enquiry.

WooCommerce

  1. Install the Sonar plugin, version 2.2 or later.
  2. Paste the key into Interactions key as above.
  3. Tick Send basket, checkout and order events and save. Baskets, checkouts and paid orders (with their value) then arrive as interactions.

VideoAsk

  1. In VideoAsk, open Integrations → Webhooks and add a webhook for your videoask, using the address shown in Sonar.
  2. Under Add a secret, set the header name to Authorization and the value to Bearer, a space, then your key.
  3. Tick the Response event and save. Each completed videoask arrives as a video response.

Latest received, under the steps, shows the newest interactions, so you can check they're arriving. New ones appear within seconds.

How they're linked to visits

The Sonar tracker gives each page view an ID, and the plugin passes it along with the enquiry or order, so Sonar knows exactly which visit it belongs to. Where there's no page ID, Sonar matches on the visitor's IP address and the time. If a visitor blocks the tracker, the interaction is still saved, marked Not linked.

The Interactions page

Open Interactions in the sidebar.

  • Interactions, Linked to a visit, Conversion rate and Top source for the period. Click View all for the full list.
  • By source and By landing page: which channels and landing pages turn visitors into interactions, not just which bring traffic. Click a row to list its interactions.
  • Latest: the newest interactions. Click one to open the visit behind it, where you can replay it or get an AI summary. See Sessions.

Choose the period from the date menu (including a custom range), and use Filters to pick one or more types, where they were sent from, and whether they're linked to a visit.

Counting them as goals

A goal can count an interaction type as a conversion, for example every form submission, so enquiries show up on the Overview, in Sessions and in your goal stats. See Tracked links and goals.
