Installation

Installing on Shopify

Add Sonar to your Shopify store with the Sonar app, or by editing your theme.

The Sonar Analytics app tracks your storefront and your checkout. Add to cart, checkouts and completed orders (with order totals) show up in Sonar as conversions.

  1. Install Sonar Analytics from the Shopify App Store.
  2. In the app, click Connect Sonar. A new tab opens: sign in to Sonar (or create a free account), choose a site for your store or create one, and click Connect.
  3. Back in the app, click Open theme editor, switch on Sonar Analytics under App embeds, then click Save.

That's it. Visit your store to see your first visit arrive. Place a test order to see it counted under Tracked links → Shopify purchases.

Sonar never collects customer names, emails, addresses or payment details.

Option 2: Add the snippet to your theme

If you'd rather not install an app, add the snippet to your theme's layout. This tracks storefront pages only, because Shopify doesn't run theme code on checkout.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.

  2. Next to your live theme, click ⋯ → Edit code.

  3. Under Layout, open theme.liquid.

  4. Find the closing </head> tag and paste your snippet just above it:

    <script async src="https://sonar-app.co.uk/tracker.js" data-site-key="YOUR_SITE_KEY"></script>

  5. Click Save.

You'll find your snippet in Sonar under Site settings → Tracking code.

Changing themes

The snippet lives in your current theme. If you publish a different theme, add it to the new theme's theme.liquid too. (The Sonar app's embed doesn't have this problem: switch it on in the new theme's App embeds.)
