Troubleshooting
403 Forbidden Error
Why verification gets blocked, and how to confirm your install anyway.
A 403 Forbidden response means your site refused the automated request from Sonar's verification check. Your visitors aren't affected. Only our checker is blocked.
Common causes
- Cloudflare: Bot Fight Mode or a challenge page blocks automated requests.
- Web application firewall (WAF): your host's security layer treats the check as a bot.
- IP or country restrictions: the site only allows certain networks.
- Password protection: staging sites and private stores reject anonymous requests.
Confirm your install manually
- Visit your website in a normal browser.
- View the page source (Ctrl+U, or ⌘⌥U on a Mac).
- Search for
tracker.js. If you find it, the snippet is installed. - Reload the Sonar dashboard. Your visit should appear within a minute or two.
Detecting real traffic is a more reliable signal than the automated check, because it proves the whole pipeline works end to end.
