Troubleshooting

Tracking Not Detected

A checklist for when no data is arriving.

If your site shows Tracking Not Detected, or the numbers stay at zero, work through this list.

Checklist

  • Is the whole snippet there? It must include both src and data-site-key.
  • Is it in the <head>? Some builders put "footer code" after scripts that break the page.
  • Is it published? Saving a draft isn't enough. Publish or deploy the change.
  • Is the site key right? It must match the site you're looking at in Sonar. Each site has its own key.
  • Is the site public? Password-protected and staging sites still track, but only real visits count.

Check in the browser

  1. Open your site and open the developer tools (F12).
  2. Go to the Network tab and reload the page.
  3. Filter by collect. You should see a request with status 200.
What you see What it means
No tracker.js request The snippet isn't on the page
tracker.js loads, no collect request An ad blocker or CSP is stopping it
collect returns 400 The site key is wrong or missing
collect returns 200 Tracking works. Reload the dashboard
